i looked at different designs for park logos, picking apart the different influences around them, and mainly looking at the two here, Snowdonia national park and the yorkshire Dales. the main ideas i got from it was it tend to use more natural colours, like green or blue, and to use a symbol of something found in the park, like flowers or an animal
after that, i also did some experimentation around the idea of graffiti and foxes, creating a lineless model of a foxes head in illustrator and trying to find a way to combine it into the logo. i created a colourpallet consisting of oranges and greens, using that colour pallet within my idea for the logo.
using a rough sketch on photoshop from my ipad as an outline, i created a peel park logo within illustrator. i changed the outlines to furhter with the presets in illustrator, and used circles with a paint brush preset to create the wider paint circles to add more depth to the piece. in the right version, i overlapped a picture previously taken in the park! it was just an experiment though.
THE FIRST TASK FOR THIS PROJECT WAS TO CREATE A SET OF 30 BLACK AND WHITE ICONS FOR THE LARK HILL BREWERY FOR SALFORDS 180TH BITHDAY, SO I FOCUSED ON LOOKING AROUND SALFORD AND LANDED ON THIS SET OF 30. born ugly is a grpahic design company that allowed us as a class to participate in their "ugly ducklings" competition to create an unsellable product, come up with a way to make it a tangable product. i landed on selling "inconvenience", the idea that you can pay someone to inconvenience you, or in other words, buy inconvenience. below are my experimentation around the design and look of this service (i landed on it being an app specifically) and made some different ideas for how it could look.
Talk about it, mate! is a community, driven with the goal to remove the stigma of mental health for men, and we were asked to create a brand refresh for them. i kept a similar vibe to what it had, we were asked to keep the speech bubble and i wanted to keep the feeling of it being handmade, so i created a font similar to the already made logo, using the general round shape of the letters as my inspiration for it. i also primarly kept the yellow, but added shades of blue aswell as an orange, since blues tend to come from a feeling of calm, and many other mental health agencies use them.
i also made some mockups for much cheaper advertisements, like stickers and beermats! keeping the general theme of the community.
The library at uni asked us to redesign the area for the zines, aswell as the wayfinding in the library. i mostly mocked up the wayfinding, since the actual wayfinding was, to me, underwhelming and distracting.
